History

Sep. 1917 Founded by Teizo Shigematsu, who originally managed a private company.
While selling scientific instruments, he started manufacturing particulate and gas respirators and protective spectacles for mines and other industrial fields.
In 1934 Moved headquarters building to Hatago-cho, Kanda-ku (present Soto-kanda, Chiyoda-ku).
Mar. 1942 Reorganized as SHIGEMATSU WORKS CO., LTD.
In 1945 By a war terminal air raid, headquarters building and plants were destroyed all by fire.
In 1947 The comeback operations.
Apr. 1952 Tokyo Plant started operations.(Already closed in Apr. 2008.)
Nov. 1958 President Teizo Shigematsu was awarded the Medal with Blue Ribbon.
Oct. 1962 Saitama Plant started operations.
Apr. 1963 Registered at Tokyo Stock Market.
Nov. 1965 Chairman Teizo Shigematsu was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun Fifth Class, Gold and Silver Rays.
Apr. 1967 Formed a business tie-up with Kawasaki Safety Service Industries, LTD. (The present, "Air Water Safety Service Inc.") and became the exclusive agent of Kawasaki Type Air / Oxygen Breathing Apparatus.
May 1976 President Kiyoshi Takano was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Fourth Class.
Feb. 1981 Technical Research Center completed in Saitama Plant property.
Dec. 1987 Automatic warehouse completed in Tokyo plant.
May 1990 Acquired the Standards Mark Licence for the Saitama Plant from Standards Australia (SA).
Nov. 1990 Funehiki Plant started operations.
Jul. 1992 Acquired the Standards Mark Licence for the Funehiki Plant from Standards Australia (SA).
Feb. 1993 Acquired ISO 9002 from DQS (German Association for the Certification of Quality Systems) and certificate of EQNet (The present, IQNet) from the International Certification Network.
May 1993 Acquired ISO 9002 from JMI(The present, JQA [Japan Quality Assurance Organization]).
Apr. 1998 Acquired ISO 14001 for Saitama Plant.
Jun. 1998 Japan West Service Center (Hyogo Pref.) started operations for Distribution and Repairing.
May 1999 Acquired ISO 14001 for Saitama Plant and Funehiki Plant (expansion of site).
Jun. 1999 Acquired ISO 9001 for headquarters, Tokyo Plant, Saitama Plant and Funehiki Plant.
Nov. 2002 Chairman Kaisaburo Shigematsu was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun Fifth Class, Gold and Silver Rays.
Jan. 2007 New warehouse completed in West Japan Service Center.
Acquired Ecology mark from Japan Environment Association for washable particle filter.
May 2007 No.2 Funehiki Plant started operations.
Jan. 2008 New manufacturing department started operation in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture.
Aug. 2011 New headquarters building opened in Kita-ku,Tokyo.
